Khao Takiab

Khao Takiab Mountain

Kao Takeab, or Koh Takiab as it is sometimes written, is one of the highest areas in southern Thailand’s Hua Hin. Koh Takeab Mountain provides views of the entire Hua Hin town and beach area and is easily accessible by car. Koh Takiab Mountain is a great place to watch sunsets and to eat some delicious Thai food.

Koh Takeab Mountain is at the far end of Hua Hin Beach and is also home to a temple. Its name translates as Chopstick Mountain.

Khao Takiab Temples

Khao Takiab temple, also known as "Monkey Mountain" is the most popular of a number of temples around Koh Takeab.  Stairs take you up Koh Takeab mountain to the temple, or you can drive around the back. Macaques habituate the temple grounds and get up close to visitors.

Khao Takiab beach

Khao Takeab Beach is located in the south end of the famous Hua Hin beach. Further still, is Takeab Bay – worth a visit. The beach stretches from Khao Takeab south to Suan Son beach and Kao Tao Beach.

Khao Takiab Watersports

Khao Takiab Activities

There’s plenty to see and do in and around Koh Takeab. Play the beach, go on elephant rides, boat trips, horse riding, eat at local Thai and seafood restaurants, buffet dinner shows, fishing, cycling, temples, and shopping – it’s all accessible, and Hua Hin is just ten minutes away on local transport.

Khao Takiab Geography

A main road runs through the center of the small village and the hill dominates the coastline with beautiful beaches on either side, and that’s about as complicated as Koh Takeab geography gets. It’s a beautiful and simple area. There is a plethora of temples, plus elephant camps, rustic local restaurants, five star resorts, monkeys and a fishing village.

HINT! -  Take a boat trip from Khao Takiab to Koh Singto (Lion Island). It’s a great day out!

Khao Takiab Accommodation

Everything in Koh Takeab is low cost in comparison to holiday resorts elsewhere in Thailand. While the emphasis is on rustic basics, from accommodation to restaurants, and the adherence on simp0licity, there are a few up-scale places for those who like luxury accommodation with high tech modern amenities, in a not too obtrusive design.

For a greater range of rental accommodation, you can always look to nearby Hua Hin Beach, or Hua Hin town, featuring luxury villas, serviced apartments and condominiums. The ride is fairly easy to Koh Takeab, and takes around ten minutes, so there’s not need to make any compromise on your long stay accommodation quality.
